People keep finding this on their own

Most of SimCap's early growth has been me doing the asking. Cold Instagram DMs to simulator facilities, one at a time, explaining what the app does and asking if they'd try it. That's still most of how this grows right now, and I don't expect that to change soon.

But a few times now, it's gone the other way. Someone finds SimCap on their own — through a search, a forum thread, a friend who mentioned it — and reaches out not because I asked, but because they wanted to.

A facility running GSPro found us and asked if their members could log rounds on courses outside our curated list, so their handicaps could feed into the league platform they already ran. That request is the reason SimCap now supports the full GSPro course catalog with honestly-labeled slope data instead of just the courses I'd personally vetted. I wrote about that build separately, but the part worth repeating here is that it started with someone else's problem, not mine.

A retailer that sells simulator gear came across SimCap on their own and reached out just to say they liked what we were building and wanted to help point their customers toward it — no partnership deck, no ask on their end, just "this is useful, more people should know about it."

Individual players have done versions of the same thing — emailing out of nowhere to flag a bug, suggest a feature, or just say the index math finally feels right for how they actually play. None of these people owed me anything. They found something that solved a problem they had and decided that was worth a few minutes of their time to tell me.

I don't think this means SimCap has cracked distribution — it hasn't, and the DMs aren't going away. But it's a different kind of signal than a download number. It means the thing I built for myself, because I couldn't find a sim-specific handicap that felt honest, is starting to read the same way to strangers. That's the part I didn't know how to plan for, and it's turned out to be the part I trust the most.
