SimCap Got Me Hired. Now It Becomes a Full-Time Side Hustle

I'm starting a full-time product role soon, and I want to be upfront about what that means for SimCap instead of dancing around it.

When I started this, the goal was never "build the next big golf app." The goal was to get good enough at building something real that it would help me get hired, and to actually learn how to build through vibe coding instead of just talking about it. Both of those happened. SimCap is live on iOS and Android, it has real users, and it was very much part of the conversation that got me the Leap Theory offer.

So I'm not treating what comes next as some tragic downshift. I hit the goal I set out to hit. What happens from here is a different phase, not a lesser one.

SimCap is becoming a full-time side hustle. That's a real category, not a euphemism for "dying slowly." It means nights and weekends instead of whenever during the day, and it means being okay posting a smaller update some weeks instead of a big one.

Right now, SimCap works a lot like the USGA app: you play your round and post your scores yourself, and from there it calculates your handicap and helps facilities run tournaments, match play, and leagues on top of that. That's a genuinely good MVP, and it's already doing real work for real people.

The next big rollout is the one we've talked about here before: getting rid of the manual entry entirely, straight syncing from the sim to the app with no typing required. That's the version of SimCap I'm most excited about, and it's exactly the kind of thing that fits a nights-and-weekends pace, since it's one focused push instead of a dozen small ones.
