What's new on SimCap this fall
Indoor season is almost here, so before everyone's back in the bay a few nights a week, here's a rundown of what's shipped on SimCap since the end of summer.
9-hole rounds and tournaments
This was the single most-requested thing, and it makes sense — a lot of sim golf happens on a weeknight when 18 holes just isn't happening. You can now log a 9-hole round the same way you log an 18, and it feeds into your handicap index correctly (we specifically made sure the Course Handicap math halves out the way it's supposed to for 9 holes, per the official rules — easy to get wrong, so we checked it against the real formula).
Tournaments got the same treatment. All four formats — Stroke Play, Match Play, Scramble, and Best Ball — now support 9-hole play, so a league that only has an hour doesn't have to sit out.
Fairer scoring across the board
A few scoring fixes landed that make net scores and tournament results more accurate:
- Tournament net scores now use each round's real course rating, slope, and par, instead of assumptions that didn't always hold.
- Scramble and Best Ball net calculations use the course's actual par rather than a flat 72 — matters more than you'd think on a shorter or longer-than-standard course.
- Bracket Match Play now allocates real handicap strokes based on each player's index, instead of playing scratch.
- Tournaments are now locked to a single course at creation, so scoring stays consistent for everyone in the field.
Seasons
You can now run a Season — a string of tournaments scored together with place-based points and a best-N-of-M format, so one bad week doesn't sink a whole league's standings. Good for a facility or group running a recurring winter league rather than one-off events.
A much bigger course library
We've been steadily expanding the course data behind SimCap, including importing thousands of additional GSPro-library courses on top of our own curated set — so if your group plays somewhere outside the original course list, there's a good chance it's already in there or on its way.
Smaller stuff
A few quality-of-life additions: you can now schedule a future tournament while one's still in progress instead of waiting for it to wrap up, and we added a handful of in-app explainers for things like how "Low Net" works on tournament standings, since handicap scoring isn't always intuitive at a glance.
That's the fall recap. If you're running a league or getting a group together for the winter season, log a round or reach out — always glad to hear what's working and what's missing.
