I Don't Fully Know Why People Don't Post Their Scores

Been sitting with something uncomfortable this week instead of pretending I have it figured out.

GSPro already has a handicap built into it. There's already a paid tour running tournaments on top of it. Neither of those live on a phone, they live inside the software or on a website, tied to being at your rig. That's the gap I think SimCap is actually supposed to fill, your number, your league, your last round, on your phone, wherever you are, not just when you're sitting in front of a launch monitor.

But here's the part I don't have a clean answer for yet. People don't reliably post their scores, and I'm not sure I fully understand why. When I play outdoor golf, the first thing I do when I get to my car is post my score. It's automatic at this point, I don't think about it, I just do it. I've started doing the same thing with SimCap after sim rounds, open the app before I even start driving home. But I don't think most people have that instinct, and I keep asking myself why.

Is it friction, having to open a second app after you already played. Is it that if you're always playing on the same simulator with the same friends, the number sitting inside that software is just easier, even if it doesn't travel anywhere. Is it that there's no real social pressure to have an accurate number unless something's actually on the line, a match, a bet, a tournament, a friend group actually watching.

I think the answer is some combination of all three, and I think it means the phone piece alone isn't enough. A number that lives on your phone but nobody else cares about is still just homework. I'm starting to believe the real unlock is the social part, notifications, sharing, leagues with real stakes, not the mobile access by itself.

I don't have this solved. I'm writing this down because I'd rather be honest about the open question than post something that sounds more finished than it is. Time will tell whether getting this off the software and onto the phone actually changes behavior, or whether the real fix is somewhere in the social layer I still need to build.
