How to Start a Group Challenge

A Group Challenge is a 5-on-5 net stroke play matchup between your group and another one — handicaps lock the moment it's activated, so it stays fair no matter who's improving mid-challenge. Here's the full flow, from sending it to seeing who won.

Before you start

Each player you want to roster needs at least 5 qualifying SimCap rounds logged — that's what the handicap lock at activation is drawing from.

Send the challenge

  1. Open your group and start creating a tournament.
  2. Toggle on Challenge another group.
  3. Give it a name, then search for the group you want to challenge and select it.
  4. Pick your group's 5-player roster. Nobody's pre-selected, including you — check off exactly 5 names.
  5. Choose Casual (honor system — good for a friendly matchup) or Verified (requires a scorecard screenshot and approval from your own group's admin on every round — use this when something real is riding on it).
  6. Pick the course, set the dates, review the details, and tap Send challenge.

The challenge now shows as pending on both groups' Social pages.

Accept and set your roster

If your group's on the receiving end:

  1. Open the challenge from its detail card under Social → Tournaments / Group Challenges.
  2. Accept it.
  3. Pick your group's own 5-player roster — same rule, nobody's pre-selected.
  4. Save it.

Both rosters need to be locked in before the challenge can go live.

Activate it

Once both rosters are set, an admin on either side taps Activate challenge. At that exact moment, all 10 rostered players' handicap indexes lock — whatever each player's index is right then is what the whole challenge plays on, even if indexes move later for other rounds.

Log your rounds

The course is locked for the challenge; tee is usually left as Any tee, picked when you log.

  • Casual mode: use Log challenge round (a dedicated flow, separate from a normal round log) — counts automatically once submitted.
  • Verified mode: same flow, plus a scorecard screenshot. An admin from your own group — not the opposing side, and not you — reviews and approves it before the round counts toward the team total.

See where things stand

Standings show each team's combined net score and how many of the 5 rostered rounds are counted so far. Lowest combined net wins once every counted round is in.
