Introducing Group Challenges: Your Crew vs. Theirs

Tournaments in SimCap have always been something you ran inside your own group — your crew, your leaderboard, your bragging rights. That's still true. But it meant the only people you could ever actually compete against were the ones already in your group.

Group Challenges changes that. Any group can now challenge another group directly — a real head-to-head matchup, not just two separate leaderboards you happen to compare at the end of the month.

How it works

A Group Challenge is a 5-on-5 net stroke play matchup between two groups. One group sends the challenge, the other accepts, each side picks its five-player roster, and once it's activated, everyone's handicap index locks at exactly that moment — no one can improve or sandbag their way into a better number mid-challenge. Every rostered player logs their round on the locked course, their net score counts toward their team's total, and the lowest combined net wins.

There are two ways to run one. Casual mode works on the honor system — good for a friendly grudge match with a group you trust. Verified mode requires a scorecard screenshot and admin approval on every round before it counts — the mode you want when there's something real on the line, like a bet between facilities or a standing rivalry people actually care about getting right.

Where this actually gets interesting: facility vs. facility

Most sim golf competition happens within a single facility, because that's the only group of golfers you actually know. Group Challenges breaks that.

If you run a facility, this is a built-in reason for your regulars to care about more than their own leaderboard: challenge the crew at the simulator place across town. Different bays, different simulator platforms, doesn't matter — because the handicap is portable and the index locks at activation, the competition stays fair even if one group plays on GSPro and the other's on Trackman. The facility whose group wins gets real bragging rights, not just an internal one.

For golfers, it's the same appeal a league has always had, just without needing to already belong to a bigger club: you've got a crew, you want to see how it stacks up against another crew, and now there's an actual structured way to settle it instead of a group chat argument.

We've got a full step-by-step on starting one — who can send a challenge, how rosters work, and what the Verified review process looks like.
